I’m not a tour guide, but I am an experienced teacher and I’ve organized plenty of successful field trips! I’ve been asked by both schools and social groups to organize visits to prehistoric sites. Here are a few examples:
School visit to Évora
A full year group went by school bus to Évora. I provided a guided tour to the Bone Chapel, the Roman Temple, and the Cromeleque de Vale Maria de Meio. Students each had an activity packet to work through, designed by my from the teachers’ requirements.
Social group tour to Leceia
A group of adults interested in History and Archaeology traveled independently to Oeiras. I organized through the Câmara Municipal a guided tour of the Chalcolithic settlement of Leceia, followed by a visit to the archaeological rooms in the Gunpowder Factory. I provided the group with introductory information in advance, and assisted with translation of the tour from Portuguese.
For each trip, I do the necessary research in advance to ensure smooth logistics, and prepare guides and activities for participants as needed. I always follow up appropriately to evaluate satisfaction.
